In a significant breakthrough for local law enforcement, the Deeg district police have successfully concluded a two-month initiative dubbed Operation Muskan, resulting in the recovery of 426 lost and stolen mobile phones. The total market value of the recovered devices is estimated to be approximately two crore rupees. This massive recovery effort was spearheaded by District Superintendent of Police Sharan Gopinath K., who oversaw the specialized cyber cell team throughout the operation.

The recovery process relied heavily on the Central Equipment Identity Register portal, a government-backed initiative that allows authorities to track and block lost handsets. By meticulously analyzing technical data and monitoring inputs from the portal, the cyber cell team managed to trace the devices across various locations. The operation highlights the effectiveness of integrating modern digital tracking tools with traditional investigative police work to address common grievances faced by the public.

During a formal event held at the Superintendent of Police office, the recovered handsets were returned to their original owners after completing the necessary verification and legal formalities. The atmosphere was one of relief and gratitude as residents were reunited with their property, which in many cases had been missing for several months. Superintendent Sharan Gopinath K. commended the dedicated efforts of the cyber cell team, which included Head Constable Kushalpal and Constables Netram, Deshraj, Anil, and Hardev, alongside Munesh Kumar from the social media cell and Information Assistant Saurabh Kumar. Their coordinated work over the past eight weeks was instrumental in achieving these results.

Looking ahead, the police department has issued a strong advisory to the public regarding mobile security. Officials urged citizens to report lost or stolen devices immediately through the official government portal to ensure handsets are blocked, preventing misuse. Furthermore, the public was cautioned against purchasing second-hand phones without valid documentation and was encouraged to remain vigilant about protecting personal data to avoid falling victim to cyber fraud.
