Punjab-labeled liquor haul intercepted at Kustala toll plaza

Sawai Madhopur. In a significant operation aimed at curbing the illegal transportation and distribution of alcohol, the excise department successfully intercepted a suspicious vehicle near the Kustala toll plaza. Acting on credible intelligence, authorities identified and stopped a Tata truck bearing the registration number RJ 46 GA 6281, which was suspected of carrying illicit cargo.

Upon conducting a thorough inspection of the vehicle, officials discovered a substantial cache of liquor bottles, specifically of the Royal Stag and Royal Challenge brands. A critical finding during the search was that the labels on the seized bottles clearly indicated they were intended solely for sale within the state of Punjab, raising serious questions about how the consignment bypassed inter-state regulations to reach Rajasthan.

The operation was executed under the strategic guidance of Excise Commissioner Namit Mehta, Assistant Commissioner Pradeep Singh Sangawat, and District Excise Officer Harish Rolan. The on-site team, led by Excise Inspector Arvind Singh and Assistant Excise Officer Dr. Rachna Rathore Tikal, is currently engaged in the meticulous process of counting the seized cartons and individual bottles to determine the exact volume of the contraband.

Departmental investigators are now focusing their efforts on tracing the origin of the shipment and identifying the intended destination within the region. The investigation aims to uncover the logistics network that allowed Punjab-specific liquor to be smuggled into Sawai Madhopur. Officials Chain Singh Nathawat and Govind Singh Nathawat played pivotal roles in the successful execution of this raid.

As the counting process concludes, the department expects to release further details regarding the total quantity of the haul and the potential suspects involved. This seizure marks a major success in the ongoing special campaign to eliminate illegal liquor trade in the district, and authorities have vowed to continue their crackdown on such smuggling activities to ensure public safety and regulatory compliance.
