MP Harish Chandra Meena Flags Fertilizer Crisis and Forced Sales in Tonk-Sawai Madhopur

TONK/SAWAI MADHOPUR. The ongoing Rabi sowing season in the Tonk-Sawai Madhopur parliamentary constituency has been overshadowed by mounting concerns over the availability of essential agricultural inputs. Member of Parliament Harish Chandra Meena has formally approached Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Jagat Prakash Nadda, seeking urgent intervention to resolve the recurring shortages of DAP and urea that are currently hindering local farming operations.

In his communication to the central ministry, the MP highlighted that farmers across the region are struggling to secure adequate supplies of fertilizers at government-mandated prices. The scarcity has created a challenging environment for those attempting to complete their sowing activities on time, prompting fears of reduced crop yields if the supply chain is not stabilized immediately.

Beyond the issue of availability, the MP raised serious allegations regarding the distribution process. Reports have surfaced indicating that some retailers are coercing farmers into purchasing bottles of Nano DAP alongside their required DAP supplies. Meena characterized this practice as an unfair financial burden on the agricultural community and requested a thorough investigation into these mandatory bundling tactics to ensure farmers can purchase only what they need at fair prices.

The letter also addressed broader concerns regarding the potential for hoarding and black-market activities within the fertilizer distribution network. Emphasizing that any disruption in the supply chain directly impacts the livelihoods of local cultivators, the MP urged the central government to issue strict directives to local authorities. He called for a comprehensive probe into the reported irregularities and demanded that stringent legal action be taken against any individuals or entities found exploiting the current situation for illicit profit.

Concluding his appeal, the MP reiterated the necessity for a seamless supply mechanism to support the farming community during this critical agricultural window. He expressed hope that the central government would act swiftly to ensure that fertilizers are distributed transparently and efficiently, thereby alleviating the distress faced by farmers throughout the constituency.
