Sikri Police Intercept Illegal Mining Convoy in Operation Prithvi

In a significant move against the regional illegal mining trade, the Sikri police station successfully executed a targeted operation leading to the seizure of four heavy-duty tractors and the arrest of four suspects. The operation, conducted under the banner of the ongoing Operation Prithvi, underscores the administration's commitment to curbing unauthorized extraction activities in the Deeg district.

Acting on specific intelligence provided by a confidential source, a police team was mobilized to monitor the route near the cremation ground on the Palka-Baldevwas road. The officers intercepted two Mahindra 575 DI XP Plus tractors and two Farmtrac 60 tractors, all of which were found to be transporting illegally sourced stone aggregates. Upon inspection, the authorities noted that none of the vehicles displayed registration plates, further complicating the legal standing of the transport.

The individuals apprehended at the scene were identified as Sachin, Osab, Devendra, and Zaheer. Following the interception, the police team, led by Sub-Inspector Mukesh Kumar, took the suspects into custody and impounded the vehicles along with their illicit cargo. The operation was carried out under the broader supervision of Deeg Superintendent of Police Kamble Sharan Gopinath, alongside Additional Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Kumar and Deputy Superintendent Ramnath Singh Gurjar.

A formal case has been registered under number 344/2026 at the Sikri police station. The charges invoked include sections of the MMDR Act and the BNS, signaling a rigorous approach to the investigation. Authorities have confirmed that the suspects are currently undergoing intensive interrogation to determine the extent of the illegal mining network and identify potential accomplices involved in the supply chain.

The successful raid involved a dedicated team of officers, including Assistant Sub-Inspector Brijendra Singh and Constables Manoj, Rajesh, Bhupendra, and Kamal Singh. As the investigation progresses, the local police have reiterated their resolve to maintain surveillance on known transit routes to prevent further environmental damage and illegal resource exploitation in the area.
