Bharatpur Panchayat Election 2026: Reservation Lottery Finalized for Zila Parishad and Panchayat Samitis

Bharatpur. The administrative process for the 2026 Panchayati Raj elections in Bharatpur reached a significant milestone on Wednesday as the district administration conducted the reservation lottery for key local government positions. Held at the district collectorate, the exercise determined the reservation status for 31 Zila Parishad wards and the positions of Pradhan across seven panchayat samitis, marking a crucial step in the electoral roadmap.

Officials confirmed that the lottery process followed the state-mandated schedule, ensuring that categories including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, and general candidates, along with specific quotas for women, were allocated according to the prescribed norms. For the Zila Parishad, wards such as 6, 13, 15, 22, and 31 were designated for SC open candidates, while wards 2 and 24 were reserved for OBC women. Other wards were distributed among various categories to ensure equitable representation across the district.

The reservation status for the seven panchayat samiti Pradhan positions has also been finalized. The Sevar panchayat samiti Pradhan post is reserved for SC open, while Uchchain is set for SC women. Both Weir and Bhusawar have been reserved for unreserved women candidates. Nadbai and Rupbas will have unreserved open seats, and the Bayana Pradhan position is reserved for OBC open candidates. These designations are expected to significantly influence the strategies of local political parties and potential candidates as they begin to assess their viability in specific regions.

Detailed ward-wise reservations were also released for individual panchayat samitis, including Sevar and Rupbas, providing clarity for aspirants planning their campaigns. In Sevar, the allocation covers a diverse range of categories across its various wards, while Rupbas, with its 25 wards, has also seen a comprehensive distribution of reserved seats across all major social groups.

With the district-level process concluded, the focus now shifts to the grassroots level. On September 24, the reservation lottery for Sarpanch and ward panch positions will be conducted at respective Sub-Divisional Magistrate offices. This upcoming phase is expected to further clarify the political landscape in rural areas, as local leaders finalize their plans for the upcoming polls.
