Sawai Madhopur. The Bharatiya Janata Party has solidified its grip on the Sawai Madhopur Municipal Council, effectively securing full control over the local governing body. Just one day after the party celebrated the election of its candidate as chairperson, the momentum continued with the decisive victory of Maya Goyal for the position of deputy chairperson.

The election process saw a significant margin of victory for the BJP candidate. Maya Goyal secured 40 votes, leaving her Congress opponent, Vinod Jain, with only 16 votes. This result represents a substantial lead of 24 votes, highlighting the party's current strength within the council. During the voting proceedings, three councilors chose to abstain from the process, while one vote was declared invalid by the presiding officials.

Maya Goyal, who currently serves as the BJP councilor for Ward Number 55, brings a strong political background to her new role. She is the wife of former deputy chairperson Rajesh Goyal, known locally as Raju Chakki.
