Jaipur Discom Technician Caught Red-Handed Accepting Bribe for Transformer Replacement

Hindaun City, Karauli. In a significant operation against corruption, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team from Karauli successfully apprehended a Jaipur Discom employee while he was accepting a bribe on Tuesday morning. The accused, identified as Jagdish Bairwa, who serves as a first-grade technician and assistant storekeeper, was caught within the division office premises. The arrest followed a targeted trap laid by officials after the suspect demanded illegal gratification to facilitate the exchange of a damaged electrical transformer.

The investigation into the matter began after a local resident approached the ACB on September 14. The complainant reported that his agricultural and domestic power transformer had malfunctioned, and when he requested a replacement from the store, the technician demanded a payment of 9,000 rupees to process the request. Following the initial complaint, the ACB conducted a discreet verification of the allegations on September 16, during which the bribe amount was negotiated and finalized at 8,000 rupees.

Acting on the verified information, the anti-corruption squad set up a trap at the Assistant Engineer's office complex around 11:30 AM on Tuesday. As soon as the complainant handed over the marked currency notes to the accused, the team moved in and secured the suspect. The full amount of 8,000 rupees was recovered from the right pocket of his trousers. A formal case has been registered against the technician under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and he is currently undergoing interrogation.

Police Inspector Jagdish Bhardwaj of the ACB Karauli unit emphasized that the department maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption, regardless of the perpetrator's position. He stated that any public servant found engaging in illegal extortion will face strict legal consequences. The department has urged citizens to come forward without fear if they are asked for bribes for official services. Authorities have reiterated that the identity of complainants remains strictly confidential, and residents are encouraged to report such incidents through official anti-corruption channels.
