BJP Secures Dominance in Bharatpur Civic Polls Through Strategic Alliances and Unopposed Wins

BHARATPUR. The political landscape of Bharatpur has shifted significantly following the latest municipal election results, with the Bharatiya Janata Party emerging as the dominant force across the district. By strategically aligning with independent councilors, the party successfully formed boards in municipalities where it lacked an absolute majority, while simultaneously securing uncontested leadership positions in three other key urban bodies.

In Bhusawar, the party made a calculated move by backing independent winner Mukesh Tiwari, who secured 22 votes to defeat his rival Preeti Pandey by a margin of 19. Tiwari, a six-time councilor since 1995, now begins his second term as municipal chairman. The victory was particularly notable as his wife, Anita, was also elected as a councilor in the same cycle, marking a significant family milestone in local governance.

The Weir municipality witnessed a similar trend, where Laltesh Dhakad secured a decisive victory with 23 votes against the Congress candidate, who managed only two. Winning by a margin of 21 votes, Dhakad brings experience to the role, supported by her husband, advocate Puran Dhakad, who has previously served as a councilor and vice-chairman. This win underscores the party's effective coordination with independent members in the 20-ward house.

Meanwhile, the leadership landscape in Bayana, Ucchain, and Nadbai saw a seamless transition as BJP candidates were elected unopposed. In Bayana, Usha Agarwal returned to the helm after three decades, having previously served as chairperson between 1990 and 1995. Following her oath-taking ceremony administered by SDM Alka Srivastava, Agarwal emphasized that her immediate priorities include upgrading the drainage system to combat waterlogging, establishing a modern dumping yard, and developing a central park for the town.

The administrative shifts continued in Ucchain, where former Deputy Inspector General of Police Dalip Singh Ambesh was elected unopposed. Having transitioned from a distinguished career in law enforcement to public service, Ambesh is expected to bring a disciplined approach to municipal management. Similarly, in Nadbai, Kamlesh Katara was declared the unopposed chairperson after previously winning her ward seat without contest. Returning officer Sachin Yadav officially handed over the certificate of election, marking the conclusion of a highly successful electoral phase for the party in the region.
