District Judge Inspects Rajgarh Sub-Jail Amid Heatwave, Orders Immediate Improvements

Rajgarh. A high-level judicial team visited the Rajgarh sub-jail on Friday to assess the living conditions of inmates during the ongoing severe heatwave. The inspection was led by District and Sessions Judge of Churu, Sonika Purohit, accompanied by the Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Krishna Rakesh Kanwat, and Additional District and Sessions Judge Munesh Chand Yadav. The visit aimed to ensure that the facility maintains basic human rights standards for the 152 inmates currently housed there.

During the visit, the judicial officers conducted a thorough review of the barracks, interacting directly with the prisoners to understand their daily challenges. Inmates raised specific concerns regarding the quality of drinking water and the adequacy of medical services available within the premises. Given the extreme temperatures currently affecting the region, the judicial team treated these complaints with urgency, emphasizing that health and hydration are non-negotiable rights for all individuals in custody.

Judge Purohit issued strict directives to the jail administration to rectify the identified deficiencies immediately. She stressed that the administration must prioritize the well-being of the inmates, ensuring that clean water and prompt medical attention are consistently provided. The jail authorities, including the officer-in-charge Kishan Lal and visiting lawyer Pritam Sharma, were present during the inspection and assured the bench that all necessary measures would be implemented without delay.

Beyond infrastructure, the visit served as an opportunity to educate inmates on their legal rights and the availability of state-sponsored support. Secretary Krishna Rakesh Kanwat highlighted that the District Legal Services Authority remains committed to providing free legal representation to those who cannot afford it. The initiative ensures that no individual is deprived of justice due to financial constraints or a lack of proper legal guidance, reinforcing the importance of judicial oversight in correctional facilities.
